OVERVIEW

The Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard (www.umacc.org) is a dedicated non-profit organization providing food for our neighbors in the Upper Merion Area School District. We are mostly volunteer run, but a key component of our organization is having employees to orchestrate the day-to-day operations as well as shape the future growth of this amazing work.

Reporting to the Pantry Manager, the Pantry Assistant is a part-time role responsible for the coordination and support of food pantry operations. We are looking for someone who is passionate about eliminating food insecurity, skilled at communicating with diverse groups of people, and has the physical ability and willingness to move heavy containers of food/supplies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the daily operation of the food pantry
  • Occasionally lift, carry, load, and unload items weighing 50 lbs.
  • Assist with daily unloading, shelving, stocking and storing of food donations and deliveries
  • Along with pantry staff, maintain and manage food inventory and pantry storage space
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and constructive attitude and disposition with clients, staff, and volunteers at all times
  • Facilitate pickup of food donations and orders
  • Work with & support pantry volunteers during stock maintenance, pantry setup and operation
  • Coordinate home deliveries and work with delivery drivers

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Be able to drive an oversized van
  • Possess a clean driving record and up-to-date driver’s license.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of lifting up to 50 pounds or more and the ability to lift and stack boxes, pallets and daily pickups and deliveries
  • Excellent communication skills to assist and coordinate with clients, volunteers, and staff
  • Ability to deescalate and resolve client issues and grievances
  • A positive constructive attitude and disposition is essential.
  • Ability to accept and respond to feedback and input
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency using widely supported internet browsers
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

HOURS/LOCATION

This is a Part-Time/Non-Exempt position, requiring 20 hours/week between 8:00am and 12:00pm, Monday through Friday.
The job location is at the UMACC, 191 Town Center Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406.

SALARY/BENEFITS

The starting salary is $15/hour. One week (20 hours) of paid vacation is included.
